Sorry for the delay in posting. The internet has been a bit sketchy at the times that we were free to post.
We have had an amazing couple of days down here in Catacamas. Students are experiencing some amazing things and God is revealing Himself in some awesome ways. I am very excited to see the students start to debrief their trip and see how God continues to speak to them about their lives.
Day 6- Thursday- Thursday we did some work. Ok, we did a bunch of good work. One of the projects that is ongoing down here at El Sembrador is the renovation of the clinic that is onsite. The students did a great job in the morning in helping get more of the foundation ready for the work they are doing at the clinic. In the afternoon, we got some great time with the boys, seeing how they go about their afternoon and even helping them accomplish those things. It was more of a strenuous day, but it was very much worth it and students described some awesome moments in the evening as they were able to “turn the corner” with many of the boys here at the school. We ended our time that night with a very powerful worship time together and it was very evident that the Spirit was present and moving in our midst.
Day 7- Friday- Friday was a big day for our team. We shared two of the dramas for the television show at chapel in the morning and Justin shared his testimony. It was so cool to see how the boys at the school even reacted as we presented the dramas. Later that morning, we went to another primary school in the Catacamas area and presented the dramas and shared with the kids there. It is very clear the confidence that our students are having with the people of Catacamas. More and more they are connecting with more kids and sharing more and more of their lives as this week has gone on! We came back to the school in the afternoon for some TAWG and some much needed rest as we were gearing up for the Catacamas youth event that night. We presented the two dramas that evening and Austin shared his testimony. I am always blown away at how God moves when we are willing to share and be real with ourselves. We returned for a quick debrief and then ended our night with a bit of singing.
Overall, the past two days have been some amazing times of reaching out and seeing God move us as we have pressed into Him for direction and guidance as we reach out to the people of Catacamas. Students are beginning to see more and more of their potential when they dig into who they are and who Christ is in them. I have had numerous conversations with students, recognizing their need for more confidence and a boldness as they look to begin the return home.
There seems to be a theme coming from this trip that is undeniable as we look at the ways God has moved us and how He has moved in us. “Starting Fires” has rung so clear in our time together. Whether it is the visits to the schools and the relationships that we are building there, the conversations we are having with the boys here at the school, the work we did on the clinic, or the taping of the dramas, God is using us to start some fires here in Catacamas to reach so much more than just those that we are interacting with right now. Not only that, I believe that he is doing the same in our hearts. It is an exciting time right now!
Pictures for these days are available as I get them uploaded here: Day 6 & Day 7.
